What is the RNPS - Register of Number Plate suppliers?
The RNPS is the DVLA's regsiter of offical and regulated number plate suppliers in the UK. Regulating and "controlling" number plate suppliers helps to keep number plate cloning and theft more under control as well as keep number plates withinh legal guidelines of size and font.
Why is it being extended?
The RNPS originally only covered England and Wales but now the DVLA are extending to Scotland and Northern Ireland in a bid to gain greater control of number plate manufacture and tighten regulations which have been somewhat slackly enforced.
Does this affect me?
Not really- it just means next time you buy a set of number plates from a legal Registered number plate supplier- they may also have an office in NI (!)
